IMPORTANT 2020 SEASON REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration for returning Chargers (Football & Cheer) opens May 1st.

Registration for all athletes NEW to East Chatham Chargers opens May 8th.

Each athlete who registers will be placed on a "wait-list" to secure their spot on a 2020 ECC Football or Cheer Team.

Payment will NOT be taken until the ECC Board is able to determine if the season will be able to take place as planned.

Once a determination is made parents would receive a link to pay registration fees in their account.

The number one priority of the ECC Board is the health and safety of our athletes, coaches and volunteers. We will continue to monitor and adhere to the recommendations from the CDC and local public health officials as we make decisions regarding the 2020 season.

East Chatham Youth Football and Cheerleading is a non-profit organization founded on the principles of building character, physical fitness, and academic success through athletics and team sports. ECC works with young athletes from 5 to 14 years of age. We support over 200 young student athletes from Chatham County and the surrounding areas. 

ECC is run entirely by volunteers who work year round to ensure our programs success. We are self funded and raise the necessary operations funds through registration fees, gate admissions, merchandise and concession sales. We also have gracious corporate and individual sponsors who believe in the work we do for our community's children. Some yearly expenses include, but are not limited to: player equipment, field use/maintenance, insurance, league fees, game day officials, and storage.

We appreciate all of those who support ECC and always welcome new volunteers and sponsors! We do work hard, but we have a lot of fun in the process and receive a great reward when we see our athletes smile and succeed!   • Registration typically opens on May 1st for returning Chargers for both football and cheerleading, and May 8th for new Chargers. Registration typically closes on July 1st. This is also the final day for any registration refunds.
  • A limited number of scholarships will be offered to those who need help with the registration fee.
  • Practices typically start at the beginning of August and are held at Briar Chapel Park at 1015 Andrews Store Road in Chapel Hill. Practices continue as long as we have games. (Typically September-mid November)
  • Games typically start at the beginning of September and go through mid- November (depending on playoffs). The schedule is created by QCRFL and is made available to us in late August, early September.
  • All home games are played at Northwood High School at 310 Northwood High School Rd. in Pittsboro, NC.

  • Practice days will be determined by your coach. Practice is 1.5 hours, 2 days per week for Flag and Cheer, and 2 hours, 3 days per week for Tackle, typically starting at 6:00pm.
  • Football and Cheerleading Camps will take place in late June or July. Everyone is welcome to attend both football and cheerleading camps.
  • The Tackle Football Registration fee includes: game pants, game jersey, game socks, helmet, mouthpiece. The game pants and helmet MUST be returned after the season or you will be charged. The following is NOT included in the Tackle Football Registration fee: padded practice pants (required), cleats (required), compression shorts, compression shirt, practice jersey, water bottle, athletic supporter (all optional). The game jersey is yours to keep after the season.
  • The Flag Football Registration fee includes: Game jersey, game socks, mouthpiece, flags. The following is NOT included in the Flag Football Registration fee: cleats (required), black game shorts, compression shorts, compression shirt, practice jersey, water bottle, athletic supporter (all optional). Game day flags will be returned at the end of the season to your coach. 
  • Tackle Equipment will be distributed on multiple days over the summer. All dates/equipment pick up information will be communicated via email. Please plan to be at one of these pick up dates so your athlete can be sized for a jersey and receive their required helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, game pants and game socks. We ask that you make every effort to be present as we are staffed completely by volunteers who have made time in their schedule to get this done and will not be able to accommodate everyone's circumstances. You will be required to provide a signed check for $225 or $225 cash (receipt provided) as security deposit to receive your equipment, which will only be used if you do not return all of the required equipment in working order (helmet, shoulder pads, game pants). Checks will not be cashed otherwise and returned to you at the end of the season at equipment return.
  • The Cheerleading Registration fee does NOT include the cost of required uniforms. This cost varies each year. 
  • Communication will be via email to all registered users, Facebook  & Instagram pages, and through the free RainedOut texting service (Text ECCHARGERS to 84483. Cheer folks also text ECCHEER to 84483 to get Cheer info.) We recommend you use all 3 means of communication to stay up to date on the most accurate and late breaking news. We will only use the texting service to communicate about cancelled or changed practices/games.
